John 7:6-13 "What Is Your Reward?"

John 7:6-13

6So Jesus says to them, “My time is not yet present; but your* time is always ready. 7The world is not able to be hating but Me, it hates because I testify concerning it that its works are evil. 8Go up to this feast; I am not yet going up to this feast because My time has not yet been fulfilled.” 9And having said these things to them, He remained in Galilee. 10But when His brothers went up, then also He Himself went up to the feast, not openly, but as in secret.

11So the Jews were seeking Him at the feast and said, “Where is that One?” 12And there was much whispering concerning Him among the crowds. Some indeed said, “He is good.” Others said, “No, but He is deceiving the crowd.” 13Though no one was speaking freely about Him on account of the fear of the Jews.

Good Day Child of God! "Father? Your Will Be Done!" Do you know how to fight a lie being told about you in this world? Tell a bigger lie about those that are scheming against you. People in general are apt to believe the largest lie than to believe the Truth. It is an amazing reality concerning the human condition.

Do you know how to avoid trouble that you had a hand in causing? Blame something or better yet, someone else. People need someone they don't like to take the blame, that way they feel vindicated in their hate. This also is an amazing reality of the human condition.

Today's easy lesson: Why did we use the two examples above to start this Study?  Both are used in our short number of verses above, both are needed to control the public view of their world. How would you like to be in Jesus' sandals? On the one hand at home His family is wondering why He isn't out back making a cabinet or a chair or at least doing something to make money. Preaching against The Church, Judaism? Is He crazy? One, it makes no money for the family, and two, every one knows that when you are out in public, one should not discuss politics or religion. No matter what is said, normally an argument will be the result. As for The Church Leaders. They cannot stand to hear this, this, carpenter tell them what God has to say. Jesus is a nobody, and here He presumes to teach the teachers?! There is a way to fix that, spread all kinds of untruths of every sort throughout the community, and then up the stakes by making Jesus out to be a scheming liar, that instead of taking His role of family leader and providing because Joseph, His earthly father has passed, He is too lazy and goes about telling people lies concerning God's Ways. Oh, the audacity of this outright lying, lazy unbeliever who calls Himself God! I believe we would all be confused.

How does this help you in your daily walk? What's most important to God as far as you are concerned? The amount of money you give a ministry? The amount of Sundays in a row you made it to church services? Your job at church, whatever it might be, from singing in the choir to serving Communion or even the more mundane things like cleaning the bathrooms or fixing a hinge on a door? Oh, I know, that you read your Bible every day, and that perhaps instead you use your daily devotional before you step out of the house! Do you know that our Father Loves all of those things? In fact He rewards you immediately! The reward is the joy you receive from doing whatever it is you think you are doing to please Him. What our Father is really pleased with, in fact, looks forward to, is time together with you. Talking, exchanging ideas, never really leaving one another, but always having Him in your mind, even if in the background. You are His Child, you Believe and more, Trust, what Jesus has done for you by the Father's direction, and nothing for Him gets better than that at this time. Anything that takes you away from honest (Truth) conversation (prayer) about what He is thinking (Spirit) of and would like to discuss with you, is a distraction and has no real meaning to Him. Again, your works and the joy they bring you are your reward. Your conversations about what might be, or what Pastor's wife looked like on Sunday or anything similar are useless. Since the Holy Spirit is in you, an honest, frank, and loving conversation with your Abba, Father, Daddy, is what He looks forward to. If that is not so, why did Jesus go to the Cross, and why shouldn't you be as happy as a lark at all times? God is Love, whatever anger He had was taken out on Jesus' body and soul. One cannot argue with that Truth and win the argument. Have a Grace Day!
