John 8:31-41
31So Jesus was saying to the Jews having Believed in Him, “If remain in My word, truly are My disciples. 32And will know the Truth, and the Truth will set free!” 33They answered Him, “We are seed (descendants) of Abraham, and to no one have we at any time been enslaved. How can You say, ‘Will become free?’”
34Jesus answered them, “Most positively, I say, that every one committing sin is a slave of sin. 35But the slave does not remain in the house into the age (forever): the Son remains into the age (forever). 36Therefore, if the Son makes Free, will be Free indeed! 37I know that are seed (descendants of Abraham), but seek to kill Me, because My Word does not find a place in. 38I am speaking what I have seen with My Father, and therefore (you) are doing what have seen with (your) father.”
39They answered and said to Him, “Our father is Abraham.” Jesus says to them, “If were children of Abraham, would be doing the works of Abraham. 40But now, seek to kill Me—a Man who has spoken to the Truth which I heard from God—this Abraham did not do(try to kill Jesus or not obey God's request). 4You do the works of your father.” Then they said to Him, “We have not been born out of sexual sin (fornication); we have one Father—God!”
Good Day Child of God! "Father? Your Will Be Done!? It has been a while since we last met together, but not that long. However, long enough to see one's Life slip down to life and possibly lower. It is easy to understand why the Apostle Paul spoke of meeting one another on a regular basis. Once we begin to drift from prayer, Bible or other Christian readings and teachings, Life begins to look just like life did before you became a Believer in Christ Jesus.
How do I know this? First hand experience, and the timing of the verses we are Studying. Since our last time together, my health and life have been batted around like someone that decided to play golf and never took a lesson. The ball goes everywhere but where one would like it too. On top of that anxiety, frustration, and anger follow, and in the end, following the Father's lead isn't our focus, getting immediate relief is.
Today's easy lesson: There are so many lessons in the verses above, it is hard to put them in a short easily readable format. Let's try it by the numbers:
1) Jesus is God, or the Son of God, His only Son.
2) If you Believe or Trust in Jesus' Works you too are a Child of God and will never die. Never die. Your body will get old and whither away, buy you inside there ("Hello in there!"), you will Live on.
3) Just because you have a Religious bent and are trusting that Religion and its system to get you to heaven, that means nothing if Jesus is not the focus of your Beliefs.
4) Abraham, the founder of the Israelite Faith, not the Jewish Religion, cannot be claimed to Save you. You may Believe and Trust in your heritage, a.k.a. Religion, but again, unless Jesus is at the core of that Belief and Trust, it has no value.
5) The Works of Abraham were to listen to the Father and follow His lead. Abraham in Faith would have killed his own son if God allowed it.
6) Religious people follow and have Faith in the dictates of their Religion, its rites, symbols, prayers, and so on. God does not belong to any Religion. Keep in mind Jesus went after the Religious, not the average pew sitter, for He knew it was the pew sitter that was being lead to the grave even as they were promised otherwise.
7) And lastly, the Religious count everything in our life as sin or not sin. They judge humans as sinners who can control themselves but don't. That's why they could claim ownership of Abraham as their father, because only so called sinless men were able to serve God, and were able to teach others from their calling about God as the poor pew sitters may have been born of sexual intercourse outside of marriage. However, there was nothing Spiritual in them, all worldly. Actually there was the argument that there was no heaven, just here. Sadducees believed in the honor of the here and now, and the Pharisees believed in the hear and after.
How does this help you in your daily walk with the Father? The longer you stay away from taking time speaking to the Father through prayer, the longer you stay away from other Believers, the less you remember of your heartfelt reverence for all that has been done for you, is being done for you now, and what will be done for you in the future, the further you fall from active Grace. Why? Because you get caught up in the here and now, the frustration of situations you can't seem to control, so you forget that your Father is always doing for you. Your Faith (confidence in God) begins to falter, and that costs you the knowledge that everything in its time will work out; also forgetting the reality of "Thank you Father for all You do," and the peace, love and joy you should be living with falls away. You feel alone and wonder if God even cares about you right now. Good thing He has patience like no other, or you and I would be lost. Fortunately, we are not lost, He sending this little reminder to tell you He has your back. Front, sides, bottom, and top too! It is so good to talk to you again. Have a Grace Day!
