John 5:41-47
41“I do not receive glory from people. 42But I have known that do not have the Love of God in yourselves. 43I have come in the Name of My Father, and do not receive Me. If another comes in his own name, that one will receive. 44How are able to Believe, while receiving glory from one another, and the glory that from God alone do not seek? 45Stop thinking that I will accuse before the Father; the one accusing is Moses, in whom have trusted in. 46For if were Believing Moses, would have been Believing Me, for that one wrote concerning Me. 47But if the writings of that one do not Believe, how will Believe My sayings?"
Good Day Child of God! "Father? Your Will Be Done!" The verses above are so damning it is hard to put the proper value on what they say. As humans, we have completely mucked up what God had in mind for His Family and the Relationship that goes with a solid foundation, the commitment that it takes to Love one another.
Most likely you are aware of the three types of love. 1) Lust, Eros, erotic, sex. The words are used in the sense of love, but are purely reproductive functions driven by hormones. 2) Brotherly, Phileo, Family, Caring. Love bound by Familiarity and Commonality. 3) Committed, Agape', Bound Together Regardless of Situation, Time, Physical Life or Death and never ending. A non-emotional commitment that causes the one loving to never give up on the one loved, never turning away from any deed either good or ugly and never ending. Known as the Love of God.
Today's easy lesson: These particular verses have great meaning to me, because I happened to have some time with a family where the father feels that he is not only the smartest man in the room, he is most certainly the most correct religious man you or I would ever meet. He is very religious, to the point of attending at least two if not three different church sects a week. Add Bible Studies, television programs, and so on, and you have one serious Christian. Or so it would appear. He has a wife, two grown children, and on the outside all seems so balanced and healthy. On the inside misery is the normal. The man, like those in the Bible that told their parents, "Anything you would expect from me is going to the Temple." So where his wife and children would need his attention in many ways, he is too busy being Holy for his own sake, for he wants to be Blessed at all times. That leaves his family wanting. "So?" Would be his answer if you challenged his Christian Life. "I go by the Bible; tithe, teach, evangelize, study, and more. If they want to be Blessed they should do the same."
What is the message? Do you see the parallel between what Jesus is saying above and our hyper religious friend? Does this demonstrate the Love of God? In many cases, not just a few people act in public as though Christian Love is the rule of their Life. A peak behind the curtain shows this to be a falsehood. As I left the man the last time we met, his comment to me was, "I don't care what others do or say, I am born again and my name is in the Book of Life." When I asked how he knew that, he gave an incomplete answer. If you cannot see the Bible is about Agape' Love coming from God toward mankind, and you cannot follow the example, are you a truly a Child of God? None of us can judge hearts, but we can easily judge actions, and when the actions reflect the idea of understanding what Christian means is missing, how can it be judged but with a negative outcome? Remember as well, we are to judge those that espouse to be Christians, the world we do not judge, yet Christians we are told to judge. What I want to ask you to do is this. Judge yourself. Talk to your Father, ask Him to shore up your short comings, so you may live a Life that honors His Worthiness. If you do that, joy will be more commonplace than the sorrow I see in most Christian households. Have a Grace Day!
